Monosodium Glutamate (MSG)

Monosodium Glutamate (MSG) is another food additive that can have adverse effects on anyone.

It is called many different things to hide the real name as you will find out. Its main use is to enhance the taste of food, even bad tasting food to enrich the flavor to fool us.

What is Monosodium Glutamate (MSG): also known as sodium glutamate and MSG, is a sodium salt of glutamic acid, a naturally occurring non-essential amino acid, used as a food additive and commonly marketed as a flavor enhancer. (From Wikipedia)

The story behind MSG. For thousands of years kombu and other seaweeds have been added to foods in Japan to enhance flavor. In 1908 a Japanese scientist discovered that the active ingredient in kombu is glutamic acid and then the use of its sodium salt, monosodium glutamate, began in Japan. During the Second World War American quartermasters realized that Japanese army rations tasted great. Following the war, they introduced monosodium glutamate, the flavor enhancing ingredient in the Japanese rations, to the food industry; and the world-wide use of processed free glutamic acid began to explode. (From advanced health plan)

Thousands of people have complained over the years about effects of MSG and what it is doing to us. But still in all, nothing has been done to curb it from being used in our foods. Why you ask, money is the answer. Companies need to sell food weather it taste great or not, so why not enhance to please all of us. There are more companies now that have stopped using MSG during processing of their foods, then 5 years ago.

This is one of the best and funniest statements I have seen to date about MSG.

MSG Naturally Occurring in Food is misleading. Some misinformation that’s become increasingly promoted is that MSG is naturally found in food and therefore it is safe. While it is true that there are minute levels of unprocessed glutamate found in some foods, this is irrelevant when considering the safety of MSG. Just because Cocaine is naturally occurring in the Coca leaf, doesn’t mean processed raw cocaine is safe. The beautiful poppy flower is relatively harmless, yet it’s the source of opium, heroin, and many harmful and addictive opiates such as morphine and codeine. Tobacco is a harmless plant that grows in nature, yet when smoked or chewed it can cause cancer. Just because glutamates are found to be naturally occurring in small quantities doesn’t make them safe. (From resources for life)

This is the link to Advanced Health Plan. Read over table 1 (REACTIONS TO FREE GLUTAMIC ACID IN SENSITIVE PEOPLE) and table 2 (Other names for MSG) for some great information. It will help you as it did me to understand how bad MSG is in our diets.

Y’all have a great night.

I as well as my guys were actually checking the good tricks found on your web blog and then then came up with a terrible feeling I never thanked the blog owner for them. Most of the women happened to be happy to read through them and already have absolutely been using these things. Appreciation for simply being very helpful and also for considering these kinds of extraordinary themes most people are really wanting to be informed on. My very own sincere apologies for not expressing gratitude to you sooner.
